Hello there!
You can call me Rain. I’m a fine artist who specializes in painting abstract, colorful landscapes. I work both traditionally and digitally: my favorite mediums being acrylic, watercolor, and gouache. Although this is how I create primarily, I enjoy doing illustration and animation as well.
What is my art about?
I think of my pieces as being different parts of the same universe. The scenes I depict are more about conveying a feeling rather than representing a place that could exist in our world. My favorite environments to paint are atmospheric, picturesque, and have a feeling of seclusion. These places are often completely isolated. Not only because I find untouched nature beautiful, but I find peace within solitude. I aim to create a world that I can get lost in. One where I can immerse myself when I need an escape from the mundanity and stressors of life. A sanctuary of peace and wonder. My hope is for others to be able to find tranquility in my work as well. Some paintings are more conceptual than others, but I am more concerned with formal qualities and aesthetics. I want my work to be beautiful.
So what inspires me?
Video games are a big part of what inspires my work. My favorite games are ones with immersive, engaging stories and vast worlds to explore. Some of my favorites include Metroid Prime, Okami, and the Legend of Zelda series. I love listening to video game soundtracks as well. It’s easy for me to get lost in the music and let my imagination wander. My creativity is also fueled by anime, photography and nature.
